First Dates Ireland gets off to seriously awkward start

We’re cringing...

First Dates Ireland may have only just began filming, but it’s already off to an awkward start.

In case you’re not familiar with the format of the show, two singletons – who have never met before –  get paired up at random and then head to a restaurant for a first date which is recorded.

RTE producers thought they found the perfect couple as the show began filming in Dublin’s Gibson Hotel, but they soon came to realise that not only did this duo know each other, but that they’ve also been on dates before. Ireland is a small place, we suppose!?

With this being the first time it’s ever happened in First Dates history, show bosses weren’t sure of what to do, and opted to use them as background diners for one of the episodes.

The show is due to air on RTE this spring, and we can’t wait to see what other awkward moments they have in store for us!
