Doireann Garrihy has offered some advice for anyone hoping to follow in her footsteps.

The influencer became known for her impressions of well known Irish personalities and bloggers.

And for those looking to get into Doireann’s line of work, she exclusively told VIP how it can be achieved.

“Find what sets you apart from everyone else,” she told VIP.

“It’s hard in this day and age, almost everyone now is either beauty, fashion, comedy or sport, but I think you just need to do your best to find what makes you different from everyone else.”

Doireann added that she found her niche by making people laugh.

“I think with me, it was the comedy, and the fact that impressions are my thing that set me apart.

“In the beginning, you need to find what that is, but then you can change it up.”

The influencer added that you don’t need to stick to one area once you build up a following.

“I haven’t done impressions in a good while and my followers haven’t even noticed because there is other stuff I have going on. Whether it’s my radio show, or a bit of fashion – I get a lot of questions about what I wear, and I didn’t set out for that.”

“So find what is it that sets you apart, build the followers and branch out from that!”

Doireann is taking part in Visa’s #TapIntoIreland road trip across Ireland, along with James Kavanagh, Pat Divilly, Rob Kenny and Anouska. It kicks off on Thursday, when they document the amazing Irish experiences recommended by their followers. The only catch is, each adventure must cost less that €30, which they can pay for by tapping their Visa contactless card.

The 25-year-old who has her own radio show, also said that she would love to work in TV in the future, but loves being on air.

“Radio for now is great, it’s such a good training ground. With TV you have visual to fall back on but with radio you have to be constantly thinking on your toes.

“For now I’m loving radio, but eventually definitely TV.”
