A story about how Conor McGregor met Dee Devlin is going viral, but it’s completely fake.

Social media pages on Instagram and Facebook are sharing a story which says that McGregor was homeless when he met Dee Devlin.

Pages across the internet have garnered hundreds of thousands of likes and comments for the fake post.

Less than 10 years ago, Conor Mcgregor was homeless. While homeless he met a woman named Dee Devlin. She took him off the streets, moved Conor into her tiny apartment and fed him daily. All she ever asked was that he worked hard and believed in himself. She struggled to buy expensive, healthy food so Conor could train and stay focused… but she stuck by him. ONLY 6 years ago, Conor was a plumber… barely living above poverty, but Dee stuck by him. Last night, Dee sat in in attendance to once again support her man while he made over 100 MILLION dollars to add to his already successful new life. I’m not saying that if you believe in your man that this is the guaranteed outcome but… GOD BLESS THE WOMAN WHO BELIEVES IN HER MAN BECAUSE SOME OF US MEN REALLY NEED IT.

Most of the elements in the dramatic story are completely fake. While Conor had far less money than he has now, he was never homeless. The Champ was in fact working as a plumber but wasn’t quite as poverty stricken as the story made out.

In fact, in an exclusive 2013 interview with VIP Magazine he said quite the opposite.

“Plumbing was a good trade at the time; it was good money for a fully qualified plumber.”

The UFC fighter also met Dee in a nightclub, and not on the streets!

“I think the first time I spoke to her properly was when I saw her in a nightclub. I asked her to come over and we just started chatting. She seemed like a nice girl, and I like good girls,” he told VIP in the exclusive interview.

Although the fake viral story also exaggerated quite how much Dee supported him and that she ‘took him off the streets’ he did tell VIP that she was his ‘lifesaver’.

“Every day, since I started out in this game, she’s supported me. She’d drive me to the gym, and she’d listen to all my dreams. Dee is a lifesaver for me. I wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t for her, and that’s for sure. I’m doing all of this for her.”

A strong reminder not to believe everything you see on the internet!
