“I want to talk to you about this. I just don’t know if I can. It’s hard, I was 11, a child. Trigger hung around with the worst of the worst. One fella in particular, uncle Mika, Mika Hendricks… He wasn’t a real uncle.

“One night I got up to go to the loo and I walked in and saw Trigger injecting me Ma. I screamed at him to leave her alone and he pointed the needle at me, threatened to stab me. I ran back to me room and I pushed the bed up against the door.

“She was never a mother to us after that. She never protected her kids from the beatings, worse. We lived in constant fear,” she said.

Fans took to Twitter to express their praise for both the storyline and for the phenomenal acting by Aisling.
