Eoghan McDermott looks unrecognisable alongside Ed Sheeran in a throwback snap he shared, ahead of his return to 2fm tomorrow.

The broadcaster had to take time off after he was knocked unconscious during an ‘unprovoked’ attack on St. Stephen’s night. He took to Twitter to share his experience with fans.

“Some coward jumped me from behind as I was walking down the road last night, got knocked unconscious. Brain scan, concussion. I’ll find you!” he wrote.

The 2fm DJ was understandably shook from the incident, but luckily he didn’t suffer any permanent damage.

“The good news is that there is no permanent damage and all symptoms should be completely gone come the end of January.” he wrote in The Irish Sun.

“I’m also lucky in that I feel no anxiety in terms of returning to the scene of the attack, where I have socialised for many years and will continue to do so.”

Eoghan has been off air ever since the attack but is getting ready to return to our airwaves tomorrow and he’s looking forward to coming ‘back with a bang’ with an Ed Sheeran interview.

Ahead of his highly anticipated interview, he shared a photo of himself and Ed back in 2011, when they first met – and they look unrecognisable!

The broadcaster captioned the photo saying, “Been off the radio since Christmas getting over a concussion.

“Feeling moderately human and back on the show tomorrow. Delighted to come back with a bang and chat with Ed. This was our first ever interview on Xfm London in 2011 when he had just released The A Team! Great times!

“Looking forward to chatting about new music and his plans for Ireland… heard he might be announcing something pretty special!”

We’re delighted Eoghan’s well enough to return to our airwaves, he’s been sorely missed!
