Elaine Crowley has opened up about why she regrets doing Operation Transformation.
The presenter admitted that in hindsight she wishes she did not take part in the weight loss show.
“The crew were great but for me it wasn’t a good idea,” she said.
“Psychologically, it can be quite damaging to be weighed in such a manner.
“While I was in a good place mentally and physically when I was asked to be on the show, when I agreed I began to panic.”
The star of TV3’s Elaine chat show has previously spoken about her mental health struggles, and said the show did not help.
“Mentally it knocked me back into binge eating. I thought ‘Well I’m a fatty anyway, so I might as well binge,” she told the RTE Guide.
“So I put on weight, lost it and put it all back on again. I wouldn’t put myself under that pressure or scrutiny ever again.”
A new segment on her TV3 show, which is called Train with Elaine, came about from her own experience of coping with depression and learning self-confidence and self-love.
The 40-year-old is not the only celeb who opened up about their regrets after taking part in the weight loss show.
Katherine Lynch said that she felt a pressure from viewers after the programme.
“I’m so sick of Operation Transformation, I really wish I didn’t do it,” she told Evoke last year.
“People stop me with my basket in the supermarket and say ‘oh, should you really have that?”
She also explained that many women’s weight goes up and down which makes it hard to maintain a goal weight.
“And then women fluctuate. We fluctuate that stone all the time. Some people are lucky enough that it’s a couple of pounds, it’s probably a stone that I fluctuate with.”
