Eamonn Holmes has apologised after insensitively referring to one of the main police involved in the investigation of the Manchester tragedy as “PC Plod.”

Following the horrific attack earlier in the week, which left a number of concert-goers dead, Eamonn took to social media to voice his upset about the incident, but the This Morning host caused great offence when belittling Chief Constable Ian Hopkins.

“19 people dead, probably kids killed four and a half hours ago and PC Plod of Greater Manchester Police adds no narrative to what happened,” he wrote.

Fans were livid with the star, but Eamonn quickly apologised for his remarks.

“No bigger supporter of the police than me. Too many people making emotionally wrong interpretations – maybe myself included. Families first,” he said.

“If that is the case, then I apologise. I am not the enemy here. To all offended – Sorry.”
