Dublin Fire Brigade have issued a warning over a hoax charity collection.

Someone claiming to be a member of the DFB is raising money in city centre pubs, telling people it’s going towards Pieta House.

The organisation have said it’s nothing to do with them, and in a statement, ask the public to alert staff if they see this man.

“The man visiting Dublin pubs claiming to be a DFB firefighter and collecting for charity boxing match is still doing the rounds,” it reads.

“He claims to be collecting for Pieta House. This is a scam. If approached, let bar staff know and they’ll contact Gardai.

“We don’t collect money in pubs.”
