Des Cahill has admitted that he’s already feeling emotional about this week’s performance on Dancing With The Stars. 

The sports presenter will be dancing to the classic Marino Waltz by The Dubliners, and being from the capital himself, the song pulls at his heart strings.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror Des said, “I’m really looking forward to my dance this week, of all the pieces of music it’s my favourite.

“It’s the Marino Waltz – I got emotional when I heard it. It’s by the Dubliners, John Sheahan wrote it and I love it. I’ll have to work hard on it but I’m happy to with that music.”

The 58-year-old is still suffering with a knee and calf injury, but feels that because he made it through last week he can do it again this weekend.

“I have to have another injection in the Blackrock Clinic tomorrow. I’m hoping in a couple of days it’ll be ok.

“I had one last Thursday and I thought it would have kicked in a bit more but it’s alright now. I think it’s the adrenaline.

“I’m delighted I got through the week and next week won’t be as bad,” he said.

This week see’s a new format being introduced at the show, as the two couples with the lowest amount of votes will have to battle it out in a dance off.

Let’s hope Dancing Dessie will make it thorugh- We’re rooting for you Des!
