TV3 have revealed that they plan to launch a new chat show this Autumn, and it could be set to rival RTE’s The Ray D’Arcy Show.

Although no host has officially been chosen, there are a number of names being considered at the moment, including comedian Al Porter.

He has previously worked with TV3, but a rep for the 23-year-old told the Irish Sun that his Today FM radio show is his main priority right now.

Other names being thrown in the mix are Samantha Mumba, Deirdre O’Kane and Grainne Seoige. However, station boss Bill Malone said that there is a possibility that some RTE hosts could also be on their shortlist, but he will not be talking about them just yet.

Speaking to the newspaper Bill said, “TV3 is a broadcaster of scale. We had Cheltenham this year and the Six Nations next year. We are expanding and growing and have great ambition.

“Grainne was fantastic on The Restaurant. We are already doing business with her. Deirdre O’Kane is a great stand up and now TV host and Samantha Mumba has been brilliant on the Six O’Clock Show.

”A small circle of big names are locked into corporate contracts with RTE but many others are only on screen for short runs. There is nothing to stop them coming across from RTE to TV3.

”If we mention names, they will be deemed to have failed, if we decide not to cast them. But what I can say is that we are building up a string unbeatable Autumn schedule for TV3.”
