British songwriter Paul Rose has accused U2 of stealing his original song, and using elements of it for their hit The Fly.

The musician feels that the Irish rockers lifted elements of his track Nae Slappin, after they heard the song in 1989.

Paul claims that the band heard his song after he gave a demo of the track to studio executives at Island Records. He says that Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen were seeking inspiration for their upcoming Achtung Baby album at that time, and got it from his song.

He's seeking damages and songwriting credit from the band.

He filed a lawsuit against U2 at the Manhattan federal court, looking for $5 million dollars in damages and fees, and songwriting credit for the band’s 1991 hit.

A representative for the band has yet to comment on the matter. However, here are both tracks, what do you think?
