Bob Geldof has married his long-term partner Jeanne Marine this weekend during a romantic beach ceremony, despite reports that they already tied the knot in April.
According to the Irish Mirror, the only two signed some paperwork a few months back and had the official ceremony and celebrations this weekend – a common routine in France.
The ceremony took place in a beachfront house on the French Riviera, followed by a lavish reception.
A source told the newspaper, “In France a formal wedding usually has two parts, and this weekend was the main event. It’s quite an intimate affair. Bob doesn’t really go in for all of that celebrity excess. He just likes to be around his closest friends and family.”
Bob’s close friends consist of many an A-lister, as guests at the event included his daughters Fifi and Pixie, the Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, Richard Branson, Jerry Hall, Richard E. Grant and Demi Moore.
“It was a great party, and nobody enjoyed themselves more than Bob and Jeanne. It’s lovely to see a smile back on Bob’s face after such a tough couple of years,” the source said.
The wedding celebrations come 18 months after the death of his daughter Peaches.
