Aldi have recalled a batch of their Skellig Bay Yellowfin Tuna Steaks, over fears of histamine contamination.

The batch in question has the product code 76993, and any of these dates on them: 05/04/2017, 13/04/17, 14/04/17, 15/04/2017 and 17/04/2017.

The store announced the recall on their website saying, “We are recalling this product due to the detection of high levels of histamine.

“This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone who consumes it. If you have bought the above product, please do not eat it.

“Customers are asked to return this product to the nearest store, where a full refund will be given.”

Symptoms of histamine contamination are vast, including a tingling sensation, skin rash, headaches and hypotension. In some cases vomiting and diarrhoea may occur and certain individuals may require hospital treatment. The symptoms usually develop shortly after ingestion of the toxic food, and resolve themselves within 24 hours.
