Al Porter made a terminally ill fan’s dreams come true when he sat down with her for a special meet and greet before his performance at the Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway on Friday.

Devoted fan, Margaret Bermingham is battling terminal cancer and one of her final wishes was to meet the funnyman.

Margaret’s niece, Tracey Ferguson bought ticket’s for Al’s number one fan and some family members to see him perform at the comedy festival on Friday and she requested a meet and greet with the comedian.

Al was delighted to meet Margaret and went above and beyond to make sure she had a memorable experience.

When recounting the experience Margaret’s niece had nothing but praise for the Tallaght native.

“We told her (Margaret)  we better get her seated before the rest of the audience came in because she’s in a wheelchair.” she told The Irish Sun. “We brought her into the empty auditorium and then Al came over to her with a box of chocolates. It was a complete surprise to her.

He had asked me in advance things about her and he said, ‘Oh, I hear you like small dogs and red-haired men, I know everything about you, Margaret’

“He then sat with her holding her hand for 15 or 20 minutes and he was fantastic.”
