Aisling O’Loughlin has spoken out about the breakup of her relationship from partner Nic MacInnes. The couple, who were together for seven years, parted ways some time ago, and have three children together.

The former TV3 favourite is more than ready for a fresh new chapter, as 2016 proved to be a turbulent year for her. The presenter was publicly axed from her role at Xpose last August, she then embarked on a new career venture, launching her website Exquisite.ie, and most recently came the announcement of her separation.

Speaking to the Sunday Independent she said, “2017 seems to be a year of fresh starts for me. It started on a clean slate and I get to fill in the lines, because I’m now in charge and it’s time to stand up and be a woman.”

Aisling remembers when she first met the father of her children, saying that she was instantly attracted to him. She also admitted that the situation between them now is good, and he is a fantastic dad.

“Nic rocked up on his bike, and had that whole French fabulousness thing going on and nice shiny hair. And I’m a sucker for French men.

“Nic is beautiful with his kids, both ours and his older boys. He always puts them first. Nic, his boys and his ex, Caiomhe, will all be in my life forever, and thankfully we like each other and all want peace so nobody is fighting.

“It was the nature of our relationship that Nic and I weren’t that hurt when it came to an end. We were just relieved really, and we’re both very happy now,” she said.

The host also opened up about her new job, saying that after an awkward exit from TV3, she’s excited to be working on her own and is ready for the challenge.

“This new move is exhilarating and scary as hell- but I’m at a point in life where I trust and like myself. I’m finally liking my flawed self and it’s a nice place to be,” she said.
