Elaine Crowley has denied rumours that she’s dating Ryan Tubridy, saying they are “absolutely not” a couple.
The Late Late Show host and The Midday presenter were reportedly romantically involved recently, but Elaine has insisted that they are not together.
“Believe me, if I was- and I cannot lie- then I would just say it out straight, but absolutely not,” she said.
“The poor man must be demented, I feel sorry for him. I’m mortified for him about (the dating questions) he gets,” Elaine told The Irish Independent.
Elaine added that she was insulted when people instantly presumed that the pair were dating, just because they appeared on each other’s shows.
“I was kind of insulted because it’s like I’m on The Late Late Show or his radio show and the only reason I’m on is because of that.”
Ryan Tubridy had been dating Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain for five years up until the couple announced their split just before Christmas.
A spokesperson for the couple released a statement in December saying: “Aoibhinn and Ryan are no longer together. They will remain friends and ask for privacy at this time. There will be no further comment on this personal matter.”
The hugely private pair, who bought a €1.25 million luxury home together in Monkstown, Co Dublin, had always refrained from commenting publicly about their relationship.
Similarly, Elaine keeps her love life under wraps, and recently commented: “The first time anyone will know if I’m in a serious relationship, I’ll be coming back from Las Vegas married!”
