Storm Ali is on its way!

Cloudy weather storm

A status orange weather warning has been issued for thirteen counties in Ireland this week.

The wind warning is valid on Wednesday for Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Meath, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry, according to Met Eireann.

Thankfully the status orange is not set to last for too long and is currently for just the early part of the day.

“Storm Ali will track close to the west and northwest coast from the early hours of Wednesday morning until late afternoon,” a spokesperson for Met Eireann said.

“South to southwest winds veering westerly will increase to mean speeds between 65 and 80 km/h with gusts between 110 and 120 km/h for a time in some areas. Winds strongest along Atlantic Coasts at first and later in the morning extending further east,” they added.

The remaining counties will still be affected by Storm Ali, with a Status Yellow wind warning across the country for most of the day.

“Very windy across Ireland from early on Wednesday morning until evening. South to southwest winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65 km/hr with gusts of 90 to 110 km/hr, strongest in southern, western and northern coastal areas,” the forecasters said.

The status yellow will be valid from 5am on Wednesday morning until 5pm.

Wrap up well and watch out for strong winds!
